- Massimo Motta will not be a candidate although he would otherwise be a strong contender.
- Jorge Padilla (Compass Lexecon) is a very strong contender for the position and is interested.
- Bruce Lyons (University of East Anglia) and Paul Seabright (Toulouse School of Economics) are also possible candidates.
